I remember, in the morning hours, the Lord of ganas (Ganapati) who is the friend of those who have none to turn to for help, whose both cheeks are coloured by sindoor, who is very powerful in smashing the greatest of obstacles and who is worshipped by Indra and other leaders of the denizens of heaven.

Early morning I bow to the son of Shiv-Parvati, Ganesha, for everything that is auspicious, who is worshipped by Brahma, who dispenses fruits according to the wishes of devotees, who is pot-bellied, who has the chief of serpents as his yagnasutra and who is an expert in playful activities.

Early morning I worship the son of Lord Shiva, Ganesha, who is the refuge for his devotees, who is like wild-fire for their sorrows, who is the fire which destroys the forest of their ignorance and who encourages and enthuses them.
